COBALT: HOW I STYLED BELL BOTTOMS
Fashion trends repeat themselves often and the bell-bottom pant has definitely been the latest fashion trend in the last year or so. I first saw them come back early 2017, but mostly in denim bell-bottom styles. However, the colorful high-waist bellbottoms with ruffles at the bottom have become quite the trend as of late!
In the first couple of photos, I am wearing a pair of cobalt blue ruffle bell-bottom pants with slits on the sides from MODChic, a local boutique in Houston. I was so in love with them when I first saw them and I immediately started making plans to wear them! There were so many options. But, I decided to style them with a striped long sleeve top that I purchased many years ago during one of many thrift adventures. I wanted to go for a more chic look. Therefore, I decided to tie the long sleeved oversized top in the front to give way to a cropped look. This look can be achieved by wearing an actual crop top or tying a knot in a long sleeved button down as I did. The bell-bottom pants give you an instant shape and accentuate your curves in every way and the cropped accentuates the waste even more for the hourglass appearance in your shape. I personally fell in love with them because only because they accentuated my curves, but also because they elongated my legs and made them appear slender than actually are. These factors are important for a funsized woman like me! LOL
The second look for these pants was pretty much inspired by the fun color of the pants—cobalt blue. I had a mustard yellow top from ZARA that I wanted to wear and a beaded necklace that I thought would pair well with the top and the pants. I am always a fan of a pop of color and therefore will sometimes go for more pops of color than a neutral look as in the first look with the striped top. Either way, both looks are fun!
I’ve seen these pants in so many colors ranging from yellow, red, green and of course blue! And they transcend seasons, so I definitely think I will be wearing them again this spring with a color top with a cute floral or tribal print and summer as well with a bralette and platform sandals. What are some different ways you would style these pants? I want to hear from you!
