The metallic trend is a must-have for ladies who want to shine bright like diamonds! I first purchased a metallic pleated skirt similar to this one from H&M back in 2011 before metallic was on trend and it was love at first sight. I wore it until the metallic fell off—literally! I finally came to terms with parting ways with “old faithful”, and luckily found this very similar metallic skirt in Zara last year. It is extremely versatile and I love to find pieces that I can dress up or down and that will be well worth the money I spend. I also love to purchase classic pieces that are “on trend” vs. trendy, meaning they will still be relevant in years to come. This skirt definitely fits the bill.
In the first photo, I dressed the skirt up with metallic paneled top also from Zara and paired it with silver metallic ombre metallic pumps, both from Zara. Can you guess my favorite store now? LOL. I would wear this to any dressy occasion including a cocktail hour, an after 5 function, or to a fancy dinner.
You can make this statement piece stand out even more by pairing it with this casual denim button-down. The denim top in the photo actually had super cute silver embellishments on the shoulders, which complemented the skirt very well. I tied it up in the front to accentuate my waist and add shape. I actually wore this to a fashion brunch and I would also wear to any dressy casual daytime function or dinner with the girls.
You can also rework this metallic skirt by dressing it down with a white t-shirt and sneakers for a sporty look. This was actually the first time I tried the “sneakers with skirt” trend, but I must admit that I actually liked it! It was flirty, fun and chic all at the same time. I would wear this on a casual outing such as lunch date, weekday happy hour or a SundayFunday event.
